Project Scientist(s) - Ocean Acoustics

Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Job Description:

JASCO is looking for individuals with experience ocean acoustics and sound propagation modeling. Successful candidates will provide research, modeling, and algorithm development related to:

* underwater acoustic modeling and simulation; and
* prediction of impacts from anthropogenic noise on marinemammals.

Education

*Ph.D. (preferred) or Masters degree in acoustics, oceanography, physics, engineering, applied mathematics or related field.

Requirements - Expertise in:

*Underwater acoustics and ocean acoustic modeling theory.
*Propagation models, particularly ray-based and PE-based models.
*Matched Field Processing and back propagation concepts.
*Experience with Interactive Data Language (IDL), Matlab,Java, XML.
*Applicants should have strong mathematical and computer skills.
*Proven experience in writing concise, detail-oriented technical documents.
