Acoustic Design Specialist(Lead) - Acoustics Specialist(Support)
Westlake Reed Leskosky is an award-winning, international architecture firm headquartered in
Cleveland, Ohio with offices in Washington DC, Phoenix and Los Angeles. Along with traditional
architecture and engineering design services, Westlake Reed Leskosky provides innovative and
integrated Acoustic Design Solutions for music and drama spaces, cultural arts facilities, museums,
institutional buildings, lecture halls, meeting rooms, courtrooms, and other acoustically sensitive
environments as part of the Innovative Technology Design Group.
WRLs rapidly expanding Innovative Technology Design Group is searching for two positions in acoustics
to work in the Cleveland or Washington DC office:
Acoustic Design Specialist [Lead]
Acoustics Specialist [Support]
These opportunities are directed towards individuals interested in high-profile projects in a vertically
integrated design studio including A/E services, AV, IT, Theater Consulting, Lighting Design, Security,
Museum Design, and Room Automation.
The ideal candidate for the Acoustics Specialist [Lead] position should have:
A minimum of seven [7] years of experience in architectural acoustic design, including room
acoustics, acoustic isolation, and noise control of building systems.
Experience in a broad range of facility types that coincide with the firms market channels, which
include cultural and performing arts, healthcare and historic preservation.
A masters degree in a field(s) relevant to architectural acoustic design, including engineering,
architecture, physics, theatrical sound design, music, or other related discipline.
The ability to work within an active, multi-disciplined environment.
The ability to meet deadlines for multiple projects.
The ability to clearly write acoustic service fee proposals and detail probable costs for services
on projects.
The ability to clearly outline and communicate acoustic goals and design approaches, both
verbally and in concise written form.
Availability to travel for job meetings, site visits and project interviews, as appropriate.
Ability to design, detail and write specifications for acoustic solutions in conjunction with inhouse
architects, engineers and specialty design staff.
The ability to provide budget analysis for acoustic solutions for projects.
Active involvement and recognition in the national professional acoustics community, and
extensive knowledge of current acoustic standards and practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, CATT-Acoustic, and HVAC noise prediction software.
Knowledge of MATLAB, SmaartLive, AcousticTools, Revit, EASE and Adobe applications is
desirable.
The ideal candidate for the Acoustics Specialist [support] position should have:
Up to three [3] years experience in architectural acoustic design, acoustics research or product
manufacturing related to room acoustics, acoustic isolation, and/or noise control of building
systems.
A bachelors degree [minimum] in a technical field relevant to architectural acoustic design,
including engineering, architecture, physics, or other related discipline.
The ability to work under tight deadlines.
Proficiency to quickly provide graphic documentation for senior acousticians and/or architects.
Excellent three-dimensional and spatial understanding.
A basic understanding of building systems and construction techniques.
Must be skilled or trained [at a minimum] in taking field measurements for room acoustic and
acoustic isolation analysis.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, CATT-Acoustic, and HVAC noise prediction software.
Knowledge of MATLAB, SmaartLive, AcousticTools, Revit, EASE and Adobe applications is
desirable.
