Acoustical Engineer Post Doctoral (Research Assistant)

The Joint Cardiovascular Research Laboratories (JCRL), located in the Department of Internal Medicine, Section of Cardiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) has a post-doctoral position immediately available in the area of acoustical engineer. The position would support the Associate Professor of Research in Cardiovascular Medicine in a NIH-funded project related to Ultrasonic theory, ultrasonic measurements, three-dimensional ultrasound and animal studies.

The candidate is expected to conduct research and will be responsible for preparing and assisting with the performance of the in vitro set-up and in-vivo animal studies of an ultrasound therapeutic study. Additionally the candidate is expected to contribute the writing of publications, proposals and interact with sponsors, external and internal collaborators. Some travel will be anticipated.

This job requires a PhD or equivalent in Physics, Acoustical Engineering or related fields with special skills in ultrasound therapeutics, imaging and ultrasound contrast agents. Preference will be given to those individuals with a strong background in cavitation detection and monitoring, and those who have demonstrated skills in Matlab programming, hydrophone measurements and experimental design.
