Responsibilities

The Calgary office is actively seeking an intermediate environmental noise specialist to join our Air Quality and Noise Group as a permanent, full-time employee. This position is a good opportunity to further your experience through exposure to a wide range of noise assessment techniques for numerous industrial and government clients. The responsibilities associated with this position include:

  • play a key role in the development, execution and completion of noise assessments;
  • complete technical work for various types of developments including mines, oil and gas facilities and other industrial operations;
  • manage small to intermediate size noise assessments as stand-alone projects or as a component of multi-disciplinary environmental assessments;
  • ensure adherence with Golder's project management and QA/QC protocols;
  • contribute to the development of technical skills for assessing noise;
  • prepare technical reports, proposals and other communications;
  • liase with clients and regulators; and
  • supervise, train and mentor junior staff.

    • Qualifications

    Golder is a strong advocate of the team approach to undertaking projects and problem solving. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be expected to interface with and work on multi-disciplinary teams where the contribution of each member is valued. Areas of expertise should include but are not limited to outdoor acoustics, sound measurement, determination of acoustic source emission levels and environmental assessment as related to industrial clients. The preferred candidate will possess the following:

  • BSc. or Masters in engineering or physics;

  • 5 years of experience in the environmental industry;

  • proven project management skills;

  • ability to thrive in an atmosphere that requires cooperation and team work to provide quality, solution-oriented consulting services;

  • an understanding of federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations pertaining to noise issues;

  • proven leadership skills and experience;

  • strong technical writing skills; and

  • strong interpersonal, communication and critical thinking skills.
